• Energy and electricity can be supplied to remote areas where power lines cannot access.
• Less pollution is caused by the solar panels than power from coal fired stations.
• Useful for low power devices such as garden lights, calculators etc.

Solar Energy Disadvantages

• A large amount of energy is required to refine the silicon in the panel to a level that is pure enough to be used in the solar panel.
• When there is no sun there is no power.
• The batteries required to store the power from the panels (so you get power at night) and run the house are very toxic to the environment, don't last for ever and are expensive.
• Need heaps of panels to create a solar power plant and the panels are very expensive.
