Misty

Misty from Pokemon

Misty, called Kasumi in Japan, is a fictional character who appears in several seasons of the Pokémon anime, the Pokémon manga series (Electric Tale of Pikachu) and the Ash & Pikachu manga.

Misty is alsoa gym leader in the Pokémon video games, who the anime's character is based upon.

Her English name derives from "mist", which is the meaning of her Japanese name (Kasumi means misty or hazy, in a given name sense).

In the Japanese version, Misty is voiced by Mayumi Iizuka, in the English version she's voiced by Rachael Lillis. However, in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, her dub voice was provided by Michele Knotz.

Misty is the youngest of 4 sisters who reside in the Cerulean Gym. Fed up with her more glamourous older sisters, Misty leaves the gym with the aim of becoming the world's greatest Water Pokmon trainer.

She met Ash when she "caught" him (nudge nudge wink wink) with her fishing line in a river near Viridian City. She travelled with Ash, Brock, and Tracey through the Kanto region, Orange Islands, and Johto. Her goal was ostensibly to get Ash to replace her bike, which he had destroyed when they first met.Misty often seemed to have forgotten about the bicycle, indicating that her real reason for following along was that she simply wanted to remain with her friends.

After Ash competed in the Johto League Silver Conference, however, the bicycle was fixed and returned to her by the Viridian City Nurse Joy. Misty was sad that she no longer had the excuse to travel with Ash. In addition, her sisters Daisy, Lily, and Violet, called Misty at this time to tell her they were going on a world tour, and needed her to return to Cerulean and watch the Gym for them.

Misty wanted to stay with Ash, but felt it was her responsibility to look after the Gym, which would be shut down if it was left unattended. Even after her sisters returned, Misty remained the sole Cerulean Gym Leader. Only Daisy (the eldest sister, and the one Misty is best friends with) seems to spend any large amount of time at the Gym now that Misty has returned. Misty used to hate Gyarados because of a traumatic experience as a child in which she was nearly eaten by one, but she later overcame her fears and now uses a Gyarados as one of her primary Pokmon.
