Disadvantages
of Vegetarianism ? Are there any ?
Are there any disadvantages of vegetarianism?
Well, after 20 years of not eating meat and thus living a healthy life,
I can’t find any! In fact there are many benefits of vegetarianism
which directly relate to a healthy, positive, vibrant and fulfilling life.
Reasons are plentiful to be healthy; there are many advantages
of vegetarianism.
In humans, meat takes a longer time to digest than any other food creating
toxins that the body must struggle to eliminate. The more build-up of
these toxins, the harder it is for the body to get rid of them, which
can consequently lead to cancer.
It’s time for all of us to take better care of our
health and adopt a vegetarian diet because in doing we’re not only
doing what’s best for us, but what’s best for the whole world.
“How so?” you may ask. Well, by raising cattle and other animals
for meat consumption we’re overusing Earth’s ecological and
environmental resources. For instance, it’s been estimated that
for every 4 ounce hamburger made from the carcass of an animal that grazed
an area which once was forested, 55 square feet of tropical rainforest
is destroyed.
Also, did you know that in the U.S. 70% of all grains produced
is fed to livestock?! By turning vegetarian these grains can be used to
feed the starving people in the poorer countries instead.
So why not turn towards vegetarianism – you’ll
be in good company such as these famous vegetarians: Sir Isaac Newton,
Albert Einstein, Leo Tolstoy, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Socrates, Pythagoras,
Mahatma Ghandi, H.G. Wells, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Plato, Leonardo Da Vinci,
William Shakespeare, Shakyamuni Buddha, Voltaire, Charles Darwin to name
but a few.
